Description |
Guang Yu
(in Japanese Kan'u) was a famous Chines general (3th century)
that was deified after is death as god of war and protector of
warriors. He participated in several famous episodes, which
were compiled in several books and become the basis of the
famous Kabuki play Kan'u, first represented in 1737.
This play was included in the Kabuki Juhachi Ban -
Eighteen Favorite Kabuki Plays, a list of the main plays
associated with the Ichikawa family of actors, compiled
by Ichikawa Danjuro VII. |
