An actor
in the role of Kamakura in the play Shibaraku, one of the most
famous aragoto roles. Shibaraku
(Wait!) is one of the greatest plays of Chikamatsu
Monzaemon (1653-1724), considered the greatest Japanese playwriter of
all times. Its Kabuki version was
represented, every year, in November, marking the official start of the
season and being used to present to the audiences the new actors
enrolled by the companies. |
