Man-Pai / Kunisada: Yomogyu

This print belongs to an unusual series with illustrations of the Tale of Genji, notable by the subtlety of the design and the atmosphere it transmits. It illustrates Chapter 15 - Yomogiu, or Flower Garland, where Genji visits Princess Hitachi (the subject of this print) after a voyage to Suma (click here to see summary of chapter).
