The
print depicts an episode from the Tale of Heike, about the confrontation
of the two powerful warrior families of the 11th century, the Taira and
the Minamoto. It shows a retainer, probably Mishima, writing a message
from Yoshitsune, the leader of the Minamoto, on a cherry tree, so
that Kumagai can read it. |
