Despite
its title, this series compares famous women with famous restaurants.
The title is also a play of words typically Japanese, as it can mean
both modern restaurants or lower floor of restaurants (a play of
words reinforced in the presence of several prints showing stairs
leading to upper floors, as in this print). The print shows geisha
Yama, climbing the stairs and talking to geisha Kogiku, of the house Moto
Osaka-cho, who is trying tissues inside the Manjaku
(?) house, in Yoshi-machi. |
