Despite
its title, this series compares famous women with famous restaurants.
The title is also a play of words typically Japanese, as it can mean
both modern restaurants or lower floor of restaurants (a play of
words reinforced in the presence of several prints showing stairs
leading to upper floors, as in another print of the series shown here).
This prints shows a courtesan leaving the house Hira-Iwa, Behind we see
a gardener and a maid carrying a tray. |
