Man-Pai / Kunitora: 8 Views of Lake Biwa

Kunitora Utagawa was a pupil of Toyokuni but, in particular in this series, he is more reminiscent of Hokusai for the modern feeling conveyed by the strong chiaroscuro designs. He produced just a small number of prints, the best known being the series Omi hakkei - The eight Views of Lake Biwa, published circa 1820 and presented here through a reproduction from the mid-twentieth century.
